Bacteriostatic Water
Research use only.
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water with a tiny amount of benzyl alcohol added. That additive slows the growth of bacteria, so once a vial is opened it can be used more than once over a period of time. It is the most common liquid used to reconstitute (mix) research peptides.
What it is used for
- Mixing peptides: turning a freeze-dried peptide powder into a liquid.
- Multiple uses: the preservative lets a vial stay usable for several draws.
- Everyday lab work: a staple supply for handling research peptides.
Good to know
After mixing, most peptides are kept in the fridge. Add the water gently down the side of the vial and swirl rather than shake. This is a laboratory supply provided for research handling only.
